Benoit Detry joined the iSTAR Medical team in October 2014, today bringing over 18 years of combined academic and industry experience in life sciences and medtech.
He initially joined as R&D Engineer, spending over eight years in research and development. During this time, Benoit played a central role in designing, engineering, and advancing successive generations of the company’s innovative medical devices, contributing directly to product iterations and performance optimization. As iSTAR Medical expanded, Benoit progressed into broader operational leadership roles, serving as Head of Operations before being appointed Senior Director Operations & Supply Chain in 2026. He now oversees the company's end-to-end manufacturing, supply chain strategy, and operational execution.
Prior to joining iSTAR Medical, Benoit dedicated several years to biomedical research in ophthalmology. A prolifically innovative engineer and scientist, he holds multiple patents in medical devices and has authored several publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Benoit holds a PhD in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Liège (Belgium).
