Dr. Klabe is a glaucoma specialist at Breyer, Kaymak & Klabe Augenchirurgie in Düsseldorf, Germany. He has been a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist and lead surgeon since 2015, and in addition to glaucoma surgery, he has extensive experience in cataract, corneal, and retinal surgery.
Previously, Dr. Klabe was head of the department of ophthalmology at Marien Hospital and Saint Martinus Hospital, both in Düsseldorf, Germany. He is also one of the directors of the Research Institute for International Innovative Ophthalmosurgery (I.I.O.) and a cooperation partner of the International Vision Correction Research Center Network at the University Eye Clinic Heidelberg and Jenvis Research, Jena.
Dr. Klabe has been extensively involved in clinical research, serving as a principal investigator in clinical trials and investigator-initiated trials for nearly two decades. He has authored many publications and delivered numerous scientific presentations at various national and international meetings. He is a highly qualified surgeon who has performed over 40,000 surgeries and offers advanced surgical procedures such as minimally invasive glaucoma/bleb surgery (MIGS/MIBS), DMEK corneal transplants, and laser treatments.
Dr. Klabe is a member of several prestigious national and international ophthalmological societies, including the German Ophthalmic Surgeons (DOC), the German Ophthalmological Society (DOG), EGS, ESCRS, EURETINA, AAO and WGC.
Dr. Klabe completed his fellowship in ophthalmology at the University Eye Clinic Bochum, Germany in 1999. He received his doctorate in medical microbiology in 1996 and graduated with his degree in human medicine from the University of Rostock, Germany.
