Swaantje Grisanti

Swaantje GrisantiProf. Grisanti is a Professor and Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Lübeck, Germany. Her clinical and scientific interests focus on glaucoma surgery, particularly minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) and novel implant technologies.

 

Prof. Grisanti completed her ophthalmology training and undertook clinical and scientific work at university hospitals in Tübingen and Cologne, as well as in Portsmouth and at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. She subsequently joined the Department of Ophthalmology at the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein in Lübeck, where she works as a consultant and Professor.


Since 2010, Prof. Grisanti has been involved in clinical trials evaluating novel devices for glaucoma treatment. Her research has focused particularly on the development and clinical evaluation of implants for the subconjunctival and supraciliary spaces with innovative materials. She was among the first ophthalmic surgeons in Germany to implant several innovative glaucoma devices, including MINIject, CyPass, Intercil, and iStent infinite.


Prof. Grisanti has participated as an investigator in national and international glaucoma trials and has served on advisory boards for studies of new glaucoma treatments. She also advises companies involved in the development of glaucoma therapies and surgical technologies.


Prof. Grisanti's scientific work includes numerous publications in international peer-reviewed journals. She also serves as a peer reviewer for international ophthalmology journals. Prof. Grisanti regularly presents her clinical and scientific work at national and international congresses, with a particular focus on glaucoma surgery, implant technologies, and the clinical evaluation of new treatment approaches.
